Gift Wrap

Once upon a time, a long, long, long time ago, in a far, far, far away place...............(I've always wanted to start a story like that),.. but this really DID start a long time ago! When my children were small I started a tradition that endures to this day. My daughter "Sarah-bara", and my son "The boy" can attest to this and are still a little embarrassed by it. It started one Christmas when I could not find, or did not have, wrapping paper. I remember looking for something to wrap one of their presents in and suddenly the light bulb went on in my head, (not the wimpy mercury bulbs of today but a real 100 watt incandescent bulb). I'll use Aluminum Foil! (we used to call it TIN foil but I guess that sounds too cheap in today's world and aluminum sounds much fancier and more exotic, after all aren't airplanes make from that. In the beginning the kids thought it was pretty neat, they just wanted their presents, but as they grew older and had to unwrap their foil covered present in front of a everyone they seemed to be a little embarrassed. I didn't wrap all of their presents with that, but they would always get this funny look on their face when the spotted "the" present. The tradition continues to this day even though they are both in their third decade of life and it always brings a little smile to their face when they spot it. Now I can do the same for my grand children, and if that causes a little bit of a smile on their faces after I'm not around to give gifts to, then that will make me Happy!....D, I know you may have to explain the mercury/incandescent thing to your Hero, but he's worth it! Love, C

  1. MyHero wondered WHY you wrapped them in tinfoil to begin with. I guess he missed that part of the story- There he is-thinking instead of listening (again) lol D
